How the immobilizer works on Ford Transit Connect 2005-2010, Ford Fiesta 2006-2009, Ford Fusion 2006-2009:
The immobilizer data (PATS) on these cars is stored in the HC12 instrument cluster (IC) processor.
The instrument cluster receives the transponder key signal from the immobilizer coil, and if the key data is equal to the car data, the IC sends a timing signal to the engine ECU.
If the transponder key is stored in the IC and the IC-ECU timing data is correct, the ECU allows the engine to start.
If your car's transponder key is lost:
Read the instrument cluster EEPROM using CarProg OBD2 or you can remove the IC from the car and read the HC12 processor EEPROM using any programmer like CarProg, XPROG, or UPA, save the file and open it with "Open IC Dump". The program will show you the transponder data. Write this data to the EH2 or TPX2 transponder using any transponder programmer such as RW4, Codereader or Zedbull.
If the immobilizer light is on, the engine ECU is faulty/defective:
Open the ECU (SID804,EDC16,SID206,SIM210) and read the EEPROM (with CarProg you can read the circuit contents). Open the file with the "Open ECU EEPROM" button. Now click the "Synchro to ECU" button (if you want to transfer data from the dashboard to the ECU) or "Synchro to Dash" (if you want to transfer the data from the ECU to the dashboard) and write the saved file to the dashboard (if you synced to the dashboard) or ECU (if you synced to the ECU).
How the immobilizer works on Ford Mondeo 2008+, Galaxy 2008+, S-max 2008+:
